Wagnerswalk

Wagner's Walk was a serial from the weekly title Tornado concerning the escape from a Russian labour camp of German Panzer commander Major Wagner and his crewmen, Karl and Gruber. Set in 1948, three years after the end of World War II, it was unusual in depicting the German central characters not as villains, but as just three men who never really wanted to be in the war anyway and who have been effectively forgotten and abandoned since it ended. The story ended with the stoic Karl being murdered by Wagner's nemesis, the fanatical former Nazi Von Hilder, just before Wagner sets down their stolen plane in India before heading home to meet up with Gruber on the steps of Cologne Cathedral. The story was credited to the pseudonymous R.E Wright (rewrite) but was actually written by Pat Mills, and drawn by Lozano and Mike White. It's generally believed that it was originally intended to feature former Action character Hellman.

The story was reprinted in 2017 in a collected edition, given away free with Judge Dredd Megazine #391.
