The Tripods, masterfully drawn by the legendary John M. Burns in the Polystyle title Beeb, was a comics adaptation of the BBC's TV adaptation of John Christopher's Tripods trilogy of novels about an Earth of the future where the populace have been subjugated by aliens with mind-controlling technology. The TV show is infamous for having been unceremoniously cancelled after just two of the three series aired (on the orders of the same BBC executives who also attempted to cancel Doctor Who around the same time) but the comic strip fared even less well, as Beeb folded after just twenty issues.
