History[]

The Doctor's seventh incarnation could seem a clownish figure at times, but beneath his unassuming exterior lay a devious, manipulative, often ruthless chessmaster, who wouldn't hesitate to endanger others (including his companions Mel Bush, Frobisher, Ace and Bernice Summerfield) to ensure the greater good. The Seventh Doctor was perhaps the first to really embrace his role as defender of the universe and to be often quite alarmingly proactive about it.

Powers and abilities[]

Powers

Possesses limited hypnotic ability; has "a reasonably good receptivity to morphic resonances" (Sky Pirates!).

Abilities

Playing the spoons and the harmonium; writing with both hands simultaneously (Zamper); spelunking; making clay models of Zygons.

Strength level

Strong enough to run while carrying an adult human female (see Zamper, chapter two).

Paraphernalia[]

Equipment

Spoons; umbrella.

Transportation

TARDIS time capsule.

Notes[]

The Seventh Doctor's comic strip adventures outlasted his televised exploits by several years, and were featured not only in Doctor Who Magazine but also in various other publications including The Incredible Hulk Presents (an anthology title) and Doctor Who Classic Comics Special. For a time, Marvel UK attempted to tie in the continuity of the comic strip with the then ongoing series of Doctor Who New Adventures novels published by Virgin, but this idea was later dropped. The Seventh Doctor ceased to be the regular star of Doctor Who Magazine in April 1994, Marvel having decided to alternate between the various different incarnations. He returned for one last outing between May and August 1996, before giving way to the Eighth Doctor.

Trivia[]

  • The Seventh Doctor was an associate of the robotic mercenary Death's Head, and once guest-starred in his solo title.
  • The Chelonians know the Doctor as Sla — Ifrok — Yalkoz — Slan, which is narrow dialect for 'interfering idiot'.
