The Corps
The Corps
was a series by Garth Ennis, Colin MacNeilPaul Marshall and Dondie Cox published in 2000 AD progs 918 to 923. Set in the world of Judge Dredd, it chronicles the adventures of a group of Mega-City One Judges who secure the city's extraterrestrial interests by gunning down as many perps as possible. In this particular story they have to combat the allied forces of Earth's Sino-Cit and those pesky Kleggs (giant murderous space crocodiles — in The Corps they ran around shouting "Klegg-haiii!", so they were basically Japanese people with scales).

Ennis describes The Corps as "an absolute disaster from start to finish. Alan McKenzie had wanted a war in space strip with Judges. I suggested something called Fireteam One, based on the marine teams who go in and kill as many of the enemy as possible. None of it was terribly original, but it would have been alright if whoever rewrote my scripts had left it alone. By the time they'd finished with it, I may as well not have bothered." A "dodgy Penthouse-style lesbian encounter" in the final episode (written by Ennis' friend Si Spencer) had to be omitted to keep the episode down to the required six pages. The Corps was reprinted in volume 76 of Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection.
