Launched as Fitness and Sun in November 1947 by J.B Allen, this title started out with a mix of comics, prose stories and keep-fit articles, but the fitness element was dropped with issue #5 when the title became simply Sun. With issue #41 in May 1949, Sun and its sister title Comet were bought by Amalgamated Press and began to focus more on adventure rather than humour strips. Sun became a weekly title in May 1950 with issue #57, but was cancellled in October 1959 after 558 issues. It was merged into Lion. Strips featured included Battler Britton, Billy the Kid and Moko and Boko.
