Steve Kingston was a British artist who drew the adventures of men's magazine Mayfairs resident 'stripgirl', Carrie, for 11 years from 1977, following the departure from the strip of Mario Capaldi. He caused a certain amount of controversy when his tendency to overuse burnt umber in his drawings gave the unfortunate impression that Carrie was no longer a natural blonde, something for which he later apologised. Slightly obsessive about American 'muscle cars', he also made Carrie the owner of a Chevy Corvette 454, though it was later dropped as he felt it was a little too masculine for her.
