Stewart 'Staz' Johnson, whose website is here, is a comics artist who was born on August 12th 1965 and is not yet dead. He moved into comics from the role-playing games industry in the 1980s, initially working for Marvel UK on titles including Transformers, The Punisher (covers only), Action Force and Death Wreck, with some of his Action Force material subsequently being reprinted by Marvel in the US in the title G.I Joe European Missions in 1989.
In 1992 Johnson began working for Fleetway's SF anthology 2000 AD, drawing an episode of Tharg's Future Shocks, a strip he has since returned to more than once. He has since drawn Killer and various Rogue Trooper flashback stories for the title, as well as Judge Dredd in both 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine, and Tales from the Black Museum in the Megazine.
The majority of Johnson's work since 1994, however, has been in American comics, including Thor, Force Works and various X-Men-related titles for Marvel, and various Batman-related projects including lengthy stints on Detective Comics, Robin and Catwoman for DC. He has also worked on Doctor Who Magazine for Panini. Johnson still lives in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, where he was raised.
