Gene Rodenberry's long-running saga about the captain and crew of the starship Enterprise was launched on US TV in 1966 and since then has become a worldwide phenomenon, spawning numerous spin-off series, movies and tie-ins. One of the most popular TV science fiction series of all time, Star Trek has predictably generated a number of comics incarnations in its native America, but also quite a few in the UK.

The strips[]

Strips based on the original 1960s series, some UK originated, others US reprints from the long-running Gold Key Comics Star Trek title, appeared in the pages of Joe 90: Top Secret, TV21, Valiant and TV Comic (a Star Trek Mighty Midget Comic was also given away free with TV Comic #1293) as well as in a one-off Star Trek Special and a series of Star Trek Annuals. The 1979 movie spawned a spin-off series which was reprinted by Marvel UK in Future Tense (as well as an annual featuring an adaptation of the movie itself), and the 1980s series Star Trek: The Next Generation was given its own comic title, also by Marvel UK. They also published a Star Trek Summer Special in 1981 and a Star Trek Winter Special in 1982. A Star Trek Monthly was launched by Titan Magazines in March 1995.
