History[]
Slippery Jim DiGriz was a Stainless Steel Rat in the wainscotting of the galaxy, a rogue who turned to crime as a deliberate act of rebellion against a regimented and deathly dull society where everyone knew their place and for most people that place was firmly under the boot of the authorities.
An accomplished thief, master of disguise and genius with gadgets, Jim was nevertheless eventually caught by the Special Corps and its manipulative leader, Inskipp — only to learn that both Inskipp and the Corps' top agents were all reformed criminals, the only ones smart enough to catch their own kind! Faced with a choice of joining the Corps as an agent and turning his talents to defending the galaxy from those more ruthless and less conscientious than himself or spending his life in jail, DiGriz chose the former option and quickly became one of the Corps' top agents, though he was never quite able to suppress his urge for a little occasional lawbreaking just to keep his hand in.
On one of his earliest missions, Jim met and fell for the psychotic Angelina, who he took it upon himself to reform and (after she had had extensive therapy to dampen her murderous urges) later married. The couple have twin sons, James and Bolivar, who share their parents' larcenous tendencies.
