History[]
Shayde is an artificial being created from the Matrix on Gallifrey (homeworld of the Time Lords) by the Council of High Evolutionaries, including Rassilon and Merlyn. He first appeared when he was sent to assist The Doctor against the demon Melanicus, and has since aided the wandering Time Lord on several subsequent occasions, notably when he expelled a malevolent entity from the Doctor's TARDIS and when they joined forces against the Threshold. Mortally wounded during that last adventure, he was saved when the adventuress Fey Truscott-Sade allowed him to merge with her, physically, to form a new entity named 'Feyde'.
Fey Truscott-Sade later claimed he was "no longer with her", but was "not dead". It transpired that Fey's evil great-nephew Alexander Truscott had separated the two in order to gain control of Fey, scattering Shayde's consciousness. Shayde was eventually restored, but chose to give up his life to save Fey, who was dying. Fey was left with no memory of her time as Feyde.
