History[]

The so-called "Sea Devils" are an aquatic offshoot of the Silurians, a species of reptilian bipeds who ruled Earth millions of years ago before entering a state of voluntary hibernation in order to escape a catastrophe which ultimately never occurred. Awakening in the 20th century, they were less than pleased to discover that the apes had inherited the Earth. Their attempts to retake the planet have occasionally brought them into conflict with the time traveller known as The Doctor.

Seventy percent of Earth is covered by water, so presumably the Sea Devils' main reason for conquering the relatively small amount of land is to stop humans throwing rubbish into the sea and polluting it.

Powers and abilities[]

Swimming really well.

Strength level

Strong enough to hunt dinosaurs.

String vests.

Sonic guns.

Notes[]

The Sea Devils first appeared in the TV series Doctor Who in 1972, but their appearances in comics have been few and far between, mostly in Doctor Who Magazine. In 2016, Titan Comics redesigned them quite drastically in their Twelfth Doctor series, but this was explained by the new versions supposedly being a "warrior class of some sort." Which is fair enough.

Trivia[]

The 1979 TV Comic Annual includes a Doctor Who story titled The Sea Devil, but it has no connection with the Sea Devils themselves.
