School Friend was originally published by Amalgamated Press as a story paper for girls from 1919-1929 (renamed The Schoolgirl, it ran under that name until 1940). School Friend was revived as a comic in 1950, initially by Amalgamated Press but later as a Fleetway, and subsequenty IPC, publication. In 1965 it was cancelled and merged into June.
