Robert Duncan Low (1895-1980) was a Scottish comics writer and editor employed by DC Thomson. As Managing Editor of the Childrens Publications department, he oversaw the creation of Thomson's "Big Five" story papers (Adventure, Skipper, Hotspur, Wizard and Rover) in the 1920s and early 1930s, then went on to develop a comic supplement for the Sunday Post newspaper, for which he co-created Oor Wullie and The Broons with artist Dudley D. Watkins. In 1937, he oversaw the launch of Thomson's first real comic, Dandy, followed over the next few years by Beano, The Magic Comic and Topper. Low also co-created Roger the Dodger for the Beano, with artist Ken Reid.
