History[]

Pietro Maximoff is a man of Romany descent who, along with his sister Wanda (the Scarlet Witch) was experimented on as a baby by the High Evolutionary, resulting in his gaining the power of super speed. Pietro's origins were shrouded in mystery and confusion for decades; he was originally believed to be a mutant, was a founding member of Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants before reforming and joining the Avengers, and for some years actually believed that he was Magneto's son. Before that, he was believed for some time to be the son of the World War II era crimefighters the Whizzer and Miss America. Pietro is as quick tempered as he is fast moving, his perpetual irritation largely a response to the fact that to him, the entire world always seems to be moving in slow motion. He was for some years married to the Inhuman named Crystal, the mother of his daughter Luna, but they broke up after she had an affair with an insurance salesman. This led to a period of mental instability during which Pietro actually became a villain again! he's since come to his senses, but remains as volatile as ever.
