Psi-Testers

Psi-Testers was a strip written by Alan Hebden and drawn by Mike Dorey which appeared in 2000 AD progs 408 and 409 (March 1985). Luna City is a domed city on the surface of the Moon, inhabited by one million people. The law says that if you are accused of a crime you can ask to have your emotions scanned by a psi-tester, and if he or she says that you're innocent you are free to go. Cyclops O'Keefe robs a bank and asks to be psi-tested by timid psychic Oscar Meek. Cyclops tells Oscar that if he doesn't let him go he'll detonate a bomb he's hidden somewhere under the dome, which would kill the entire city. Oscar has no choice but to declare him innocent, thus letting him get away with Earthlight robbery. Then Cyclops announces that he's going to let the bomb go off anyway (and to be honest, a city with such an insanely corruptible justice system had it coming). Cyclops escapes to Earth while Oscar uses his psi-power to find the bomb. A brave police captain detonates the bomb outside the dome so that nobody dies but him. Burning with the desire for revenge, Oscar follows Cyclops to Earth and telepathically makes him shoot down all of his gang, thus ensuring that he has committed murder in front of multiple witnesses and will be sent to prison for a very long time. So good triumphs over evil... sort of. Somebody triumphs over somebody else, anyway.
