History[]

"Orlok is a ruthless agent and assassin of the East-Meg Diktatorat. Skilled in stealth, sabotage and subterfuge, he's a lethal weapon sent on the most dangerous missions — but can he be truly trusted?"

Orlok is a character in Judge Dredd who occasionally has his own strip, entitled Orlok: Agent of East-Meg One. Born in East-Meg One, in the so-called Sov Block, he was turned over to the state by his parents at the age of four, and trained to be a ruthless killer unswervingly loyal to his country. Every year, Orlok and ninety-nine other children would be locked in a gulag with only enough food for fifty, in order to ensure that only the strongest and most determined survived.

Orlok became first a soldier and then an assassin, dedicated to the cause, and was eventually sent to Mega-City One in order to introduce the 'Block Mania' contaminant into the city's water supply as a means of softening up the city for the coming war. Orlok succeeded in his mission, causing the citizenry to turn on their friends and neighbours (and killing Judge Giant, Snr. along the way), but was captured and imprisoned by Judge Joseph Dredd. Because he was immune to the 'Block Mania' pathogen his blood was used to create an antidote. Orlok missed the rest of the war, which ended with the destruction of East-Meg One.

Six years later, Orlok was freed from his incarceration by a group of East-Meg survivors, who faked his death, managing to fool even Anderson's psychic abilities. (It wasn't her finest hour — she basically collapsed and had weird visions of a wolf which she couldn't interpret until it was too late. This is because psychics can only be psychic when it won't stop the plot from happening.) Orlok's rescuers were all caught or killed, but Orlok escaped and disappeared.

He resurfaced some years later, involved in a plot by another group of East-Meg survivors to introduce a lethal virus into Mega-City One via the pleasure island known as Sin City, but the plot was discovered by Judge Dredd. Despite Orlok releasing the virus in an apparently suicidal last-ditch attempt at revenge, Mega-City One was spared thanks to Dredd's quick action, although most of the island's population died. The final death toll was 887,204 people.

Orlok himself, like Dredd, proved to have a natural immunity to the virus. He was arrested and executed in Mega-City One by lethal injection. The execution was televised and watched by a cheering crowd who were afterwards able to purchase 'I saw Orlok die' t-shirts and 'Watch Orlok twitch' vids.

Notes[]

  • Orlok adopted the name of the king of the fairies as an alias while in Euro-Cit, for some reason.
  • After the end of the Apocalypse War, Orlok's satellat (which is sentient) joined the robot underground as a freelance killer. It was still at large in Mega-City One in 2134 AD.
