History[]
Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner, is the hereditary ruler of Atlantis. A human/Atlantean hybrid, he is technically a mutant, whose unusual heritage has kept him youthful for decades. He fought alongside the Invaders against the Nazis in World War II, but was later rendered amnesiac for decades. In recent years, the volatile Namor has repeatedly found himself at odds with the surface world and clashed with its superheroes, but has also defended it against various threats, often as a member of the Defenders.

Notes[]
Namor, one of the earliest superheroes, is of course an American character, but has appeared in British originated strips and text stories in various Marvel UK and Panini titles since the 1960's.
Trivia[]
- As the hereditary King of Atlantis and the son of a human man and an Atlantean Princess, Namor's origins are remarkably similar to those of Aquaman (but Namor came first).
- The first appearance given in the boxout is his first UK originated appearance; Namor has actually been around in American comics since 1939!
