Mr. Ebonite was an alien gestalt entity, hundreds of tiny creatures with a hive mind which could merge into one much larger being. He/they kidnapped creatures from various worlds and times to fight in an arena before stealing their life forces with a crystal skull. He was defeated by The Doctor, Gabriella Gonzalez, Cindy Wu and Captain Jack Harkness, and his arena was revealed to be a miniaturised environment in a room underneath the Rockefeller Centre.
