History[]

Mogrooth is a character from the 2000 AD strip Sláine. He was a survivor of Atlantis who served as a Dragon Rider for the wizard Myrddin.

After his dragon Skling was killed by Sláine's own dragon The Knucker, Mogrooth set out to kill the barbarian. However, after Sláine saved his daughter Tlachtga from the worm god Crom-Cruach, he made peace with Sláine and later accompanied him on his mission to stop the revival of the dark god Grimnismal (worshipped by the Cythrons and their leader the Guledig, Myrddin's diabolical father). He was joined on this enterprise by Tlachtga, Calgacus (a Celtic warrior), Nest (a druid), Oeahoo (a Cythron) and Ukko (a dwarf).

Sadly, Mogrooth had to witness Tlachtga being hypnotised by the dragon Nidhug, who took her away to devour. He made it further into the tomb than his daughter but was slain at the last hurdle, where he was stabbed through the stomach by Grimnismal's claws and then eaten.
