Written by Alan McKenzie and drawn by Anthony Williams, The Mean Arena was a 1993 update of the original Mean Arena series from the early eighties, this time focusing on one Sam Grainger facing characters like the Black Widow rather than original series star Matt Tallon and his quest for revenge. It was not a tremendous success, lasting for just twelve episodes from progs 852-863 (the original series ran for 72 episodes).
