History[]

Majenta Pryce was a native of the planet Vessica and a member of the criminal group known as the Crimson Hand. Her servant, Fanson, later wiped her mind so that she would forget this, and the two of them ran a successful hotel chain, the Hotel Historia, for a while. The business began to fail after time travel fell out of favour following the Last Great Time War between the Time Lords and the Daleks.

Majenta retreated to 21st century Earth and opened a new Hotel Historia, transporting paying guests to different periods of Earth history with faulty time travel technology. The Doctor stopped her operation, and Majenta was sent to prison in Earth's far future. The harsh methods of the prison left her traumatised and amnesiac, much to the distress of the Doctor when he encountered her again, and having freed Majenta, he began trying to help her recover her memories.

After dealing with some loose ends from Majenta's past (including a homicidal cyborg), the two ended up at a U.N.I.T headquarters in Australia where Majenta's former servant Fanson was infiltrating the organization on behalf of the alien Skith. Fanson died, the Skith were defeated, and the Doctor and Majenta continued their travels, until the intergalactic authorities (Intersol) came looking for Majenta for her past crimes, followed by her former criminal cohorts in the Crimson Hand. The Hand destroyed the Intersol agents and Majenta used the Hand to restore the impoverished planet of Vessica, but the population rebelled against her rule.

Majenta and the Doctor ultimately destroyed the Crimson Hand at the cost of Majenta's own life. She was resurrected by alien technology, but her resurrection was dependent on the Doctor's memories so she can only survive as long as he remembers her. The Doctor left her on Earth in the future to start a new life with her old cellmate, Zed.
