

Mad is a satirical humour magazine founded in America by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William 'Bill' Gaines (of EC Comics fame) in 1952. A British edition was launched in 1959, initially published by Top Sellers (an imprint of Thorpe & Porter) although it was later published by Suron International Publications. The British Mad magazine, contributors to which included artist Harry North and editor Dez Skinn, lasted until 1994. It inspired a number of spin-offs, including Frantic.
