Kingmaker is a fantasy/sci-fi comic strip written by Ian Edginton, drawn by Leigh Gallagher and lettered by Ellie De Ville. The first series started in 2000 AD prog 2011 (published January 2017) and concluded in prog 2022. It is set in the enchanted realm of the Nine Kingdoms (the Kingdoms of Brass and Bronze, the Kingdom of Iron, the Kingdom of the Dryads, the Vitruvian Empire, etc) which is populated by magical beings.
The inhabitants of the Nine Kingdoms had thought that the biggest threat they faced was the resurgence of Ichnar the Wraith King (a cut-price Sauron) and his Legion of Shadows. A fellowship of nine beings set out to confront Ichnar on top of the Morbid Spyre in order to kill him with weapons made from the bones of a dead god. However, at that very moment, their world was invaded by huge spaceships full of aliens with laser guns who want to harvest their planet's magic. Now people like the wizard Ablard and the ork Crixus must set aside their deep-seated distrust of each other and work together to defeat their new common enemy.
