History[]
The man now known as Kilgore Slaughter (which may or may not have been his original name, depending on how insane his parents were) was a potholer exploring caves in the Scottish Highlands when the unexpected arrival of a time traveller from the future (due to an accidental collision in the void with Captain Britain) caused a 'reality wave' which transformed him into something more than human. The now fiercely glowing Slaughter, seemingly possessed of limitless power, saved the time traveller and his friend McMurdo from killer robots from the future before learning that his powers had been bestowed upon him due to the machinations of Merlyn in order to achieve a great destiny. Using his powers to travel to the time traveler's own era, a possible future which had become corrupt, Slaughter destroyed that entire civilisation in the space of thirty minutes (but in a totally non-corrupt way) before returning to Scotland in the late 20th century and his new companions.
