History[]
Katarina Dante is a character from the 2000 AD strip Nikolai Dante. She was a pirate queen in the 27th century, a world where Imperial Russia has risen again and created an Empire that not only controls the world but also extends beyond it. The wild and free-spirited Katarina unfortunately came to the attention of the ruthless nobleman Dmitri Romanov, who raped her, resulting in her giving birth to a son; this child grew up to be the adventurer and thief Nikolai Dante, who had a difficult relationship with his mother (which did not prevent him from eventually joining her otherwise female-dominated crew for a time). Katarina eventually revenged herself on Dmitri Romanov, shooting him dead (while his mind was occupying the body of his son Arkady Romanov) with Nikolai's Huntsman rifle.
