History[]
Kansyr is a character in the Starlord strip Strontium Dog. He was an alien criminal who killed Sniffer Martinez, the first partner of Johnny Alpha. Alpha caught Kansyr and handed him over to the authorities on his home planet of Laz. He was later released, because the authorities thought that killing a Strontium Dog didn't merit any punishment more severe than a fine. Kansyr became one of the most dangerous criminals in the galaxy, and seven years later went after Alpha and his then partner Wulf Sternhammer. Using a device that created illusions, Kansyr was successful in almost killing the two of them. Johnny Alpha managed to trick Kansyr at the last moment by pretending to commit suicide: he put his gun to his head and programmed the beam to pass harmlessly through his skull and kill Kansyr instead.

Kansyr's name is a play on the word cancer, which is why the two-part Strontium Dog story he appeared in was called 'No Cure for Kansyr', and why he was eventually killed on the asteroid called Metastis.
