History[]

John and his sister Gillian were supposedly the grandchildren of the time traveller known as The Doctor, specifically the first Doctor, though nothing is known of their early life or of their parents. They first met their 'grandfather' when they visited him in 1960s England, and seemed to be perfectly ordinary human children and to know only that he was an 'inventor'. John and Gillian travelled through time and space with the Doctor on and off for several years encountering such foes as the Trods, the Zarbi and the Quarks before, as teens, being sent by the second Doctor to study at a university on the planet Zebedee in order to protect them from the Quarks. According to one account, John later became a professor at the university and at one point wrote a memo to Colonel Mark Forest of Special Space Security about the menace of the Trods.

Paraphernalia[]

Transportation

The TARDIS.

Notes[]

  • John and Gillian were created for TV Comic in order to avoid their having to pay for the likenesses of any of the Doctor's TV companions in their Doctor Who strip.
  • John and Gillian's existence is now generally considered apocryphal, though they have resurfaced in Marvel UK's Doctor Who Magazine, both as real individuals and as dreams of the Doctor.
  • In one of the original Doctor Who novels from Virgin Books John and Gillian are depicted as creations of the Master of the Land of Fiction.
