Jim Holdaway (1927-1970) was an illustrator best known for his work on the long running newspaper strip Modesty Blaise with writer Peter O'Donnell (the two also collaborated on the lesser known strip Romeo Brown). He also worked for comics publishers including Odhams on titles such as Comic Cuts and Mickey Mouse Weekly. Holdaway died of a heart attack halfway through drawing the Modesty Blaise story The Warlords of Phoenix (the story was completed by Enrique Romero, who subsequently became the strip's new full time artist).
