Jack Prout (1899 to 1978) was a staff artist for DC Thomson who, after beginning his career in newspapers in the 1920s, worked extensively on illustrated prose stories and comic strips in the Beano and Dandy for several decades. Strips he was associated with include Tin Lizzie, The Shipwrecked Circus and, most famously, sheepdog superstar Black Bob.
