Jack Potter

After serving in the Air Force and working for an advertising agency, he joined Mick Anglo's Gower Street studio in the 1940s, where he drew some of their humour publications. He moved to the Amalgamated Press (later IPC) and specialised in lettering, starting with Thriller Picture Library in 1953, although he did briefly return to drawing in 1960 on School Girls Picture Library. Titles his lettering appeared in include Tiger, Lion, Knockout, Valiant ("Captain Hurricane", "Raven on the Wing", "The Steel Claw") and others), Buster, and the newspaper strips Jeff Hawke and Gun Law.

He lived in Hawley, Surrey and Bearsted, Kent, and retired to Bexhill-on-Sea. He died on 5 October 2014. His son, Steve Potter, was also a comics letterer.
