Synopsis for "The Black Knight"[]
Merlyn is tired because his sorcery is weakening. Roma tells him not to give up hope. Merlyn tells Owein and his warriors to defend the gates. Gargantua calls to Merlyn from his dungeon. Merlyn recognises him, because he made him in his youth from the bones of a whale. He promises the giant his freedom if he will defeat Maegog. Gargantua engages Maegog in battle, and is killed by an arrow. His body topples on Maegog, crushing him to death. The impact weakens the bridge preventing Camelot from toppling into the abyss.
Notes[]
Published by Marvel UK in March 1980.
Trivia[]
In The Black Knight Gargantua says that he turned to the dark side because he liked the taste of human flesh. It's a shame Merlyn didn't create him to be a vegetarian.
