Synopsis for "The Black Knight"[]
Merlyn explains to Captain Britain the meaning of what happened to him: Necromon's dark power attacked his aeroplane, but the spirit of King Arthur prompted him to leap out before everybody on the plane could be killed, and then revealed the dead king's resting place to him in a vision. Arthur used to lead the fight against the forces of Necromon, but then he died and his body was stolen. Merlyn continued the fight by creating heroes such as the Black Knight and Captain Britain. Now they must all press on and search for Arthur's tomb. Merlyn touches Captain Britain with his staff and he is restored to his former strength and vigour. The wizard is revealed in his true light as Merlyn the Magus.
Notes[]
Published by Marvel UK in January 1980.
Trivia[]
The big 'revelation' at the end of the episode seems somewhat redundant, since it was already clear that Merlyn is a magician, and he had previously demonstrated much more impressive abilities than the rehabilitation of a man with bandages wrapped around his torso.
