History[]
Howard is a character from the 2000 AD strip Survival Geeks. The oddest member of their household, he is a baby Cthulhu who stowed away with them as they were leaving a steampunk world where his kind were being cruelly oppressed by humans. When the Geeks discovered the strange creature hiding in their house, Sam, Simon and Clive wanted to get rid of it. Rufus, however, persuaded them to keep it as a pet, decided that it was male and named it Howard.
It is normally unclear what Howard is saying because he can communicate only in R'lyehian, but he seems to like living with the Geeks. His hobbies include attacking dangerous-looking cushions and trying to have sex with vacuum cleaners. If his friends are captured he can track them down and then turn into a huge tentacled unstoppable monster to protect them, so his heart — should he possess such an organ — is definitely in the right place.
