History[]
Captain Harry Angel was an RAF officer who had a sophisticated flight computer bonded to his nervous system after it melted onto his arm in a bizarre freak accident which was never adequately explained. In some peculiar manner which was also never adequately explained, this gave him the power of flight rather than, as reason would indicate, leaving him in indescribable pain and scarred for life. He found himself locked in a battle of wits with a saboteur who tried to kill him, but luckily proved to be rather incompetent.
Years later, someone who seemed to be Angel resurfaced in the dimension known as The Edge (home of Armoured Gideon) and was eventually proven to be a ghost.
In 2020, Angel (or, again, someone who appeared to be him) appeared in Mega-City One and freed the creature called Zombo from the custody of Judge Dredd, claiming that he needed him to help save the multiverse. On this occasion, Angel referred to himself as "Zombo Prime", suggesting a connection between himself and the undead monstrosity.

Notes[]
- Harry Angel first appeared in his own series in 2000 AD progs 95 to 99. He eventually reappeared in the Armoured Gideon story The Collector in 2000 AD progs 889 to 899, along with several other past 2000 AD characters including Wolfie Smith, Bill Savage, Shako, Meltdown Man, Agent Rat, Black-Hawk, Rick Random and Harry Twenty. However, it turned out that they were all actually dead, and this story is strongly suspected of being apocryphal.
- Harry made a surprise guest appearance in the Zombo story in the 2000 AD 40th Anniversary Special, which was written by Al Ewing and drawn by Henry Flint. Years later, he encountered Zombo again in the 2000 AD Sci-Fi Special in 2020.
Trivia[]
Angel was a strong contender for the title of stupidest strip ever to run in 2000 AD.
