HMS Nightshade was a serial about a Royal Navy vessel, a Corvette K70, fighting in the Battle of the Atlantic and trying to protect allied supply vessels from U-Boats in World War II. Created by writer John Wagner and artist Mike Western, it ran in the pages of Battle Picture Weekly beginning with the title's 200th issue in 1979. The story took the form of the reminiscences of former sailor George Dunn to his grandson, decades after the war, so each installment initially had a framing sequence set in the then-present day, though this was later minimised.
