TV Comic #674

History[]

Gillian and her brother John were allegedly the grandchildren of the time traveler known as The Doctor, specifically the first Doctor, though nothing is known of their background or parents. They first met their 'grandfather' when they visited him in England in the 1960s, and they seemed to be normal human children and to know nothing of their grandfather other than that he was an 'inventor'. They traveled through time and space with the Doctor for some years battling foes such as the Trods, the Zarbi and the Quarks before the second Doctor dropped them off as teens on the planet Zebedee to study (and to protect them from the Quarks).

Paraphernalia[]

Transportation

The TARDIS.

Notes[]

  • John and Gillian were created for the Doctor Who strip in TV Comic in order to avoid having to licence any of the Doctor's TV companions.
  • John and Gillian's existence is now generally considered apocryphal, although they have reappeared both as real characters and as dreams of the Eighth Doctor in Marvel UK's long-running Doctor Who Magazine.
  • In the Doctor Who New Adventures novel Conundrum, published by Virgin Books, John and Gillian are depicted as creations of the Master of the Land of Fiction.
