History[]
Alfie 'Jumbo' Johnson was a 12 year old boy who had an army of fully functional remote-controlled miniature military vehicles created for him by the scientist Professor Carter, which he used to battle against injustice and generally have fun. He flirted with the name 'Admiral Jumbo' when he branched out into a remote-controlled toy Navy in the 1970s, but mostly went by 'General'. At one point, Jumbo apparently turned evil and clashed with Billy the Cat, but it later turned out that he had been under the mind control of Private Pike, one of his robot toy soldiers who had gained sentience (Beano Annual 2008); Pike, though supposedly destroyed, returned to bedevil him again later, but this time Jumbo defeated him without Billy's help (Beano Annual 2009).

Notes[]
Though Jumbo was referred to as Alfie Johnson when he appeared in the Beano (where he was a semi-regular from #583 in 1953 to #1734 in 1975) he was later inexplicably renamed Jimmy Johnson when revived in Buddy in the 1980s. He also appeared in Nutty.
Trivia[]
An alternate version of Jumbo, called 'Colonel Tusker', was murdered by The Fury in Alan Moore's Captain Britain series in 1982.
