Freedom by Fire is a story from the 1969 Doctor Who Annual, featuring the second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon and Victoria Waterfield. The travellers land on a jungle world where a peaceful, vegetarian race are being menaced by tbe Kraals, a type of man-eating plant (these Kraals are totally unrelated to the alien race of the same name which would later appear in the 1976 TV story The Android Invasion). The Doctor saves the imperiled people by giving them the secret of fire (which they'd never bothered to discover since they've never had to cook meat) and setting fire to the jungle.
