The 2000 AD Sci-Fi Special was published annually in the summer from May 1978 until 1996. There was also a 2000 AD Summer Special Supercomic published in June 1977, effectively a prototype for the series. Early editions contained some non-2000 AD reprint material including The Steel Claw (1980) and One Eyed Jack (1981). The Sci-Fi Special started a new run in 2014, having been revived by editor Matt Smith as an arena for new writers and artists, and a place to feature classic nostalgia-inducing strips such as Ace Trucking Co..
