Hornet was launched by D.C. Thomson on 14th September 1963 and ran for 648 issues until 7th February 1975 before being merged with Hotspur. It contained a diverse mix of strips from different genres (but with a particular emphasis on sports), notable strips including The Truth About Wilson, Bailey Mends Broken Men, The Team from Trisidium, The Slowest Gun in the West and V for Vengeance (which possibly inspired Alan Moore's V for Vendetta).
