History[]
Elvis is a character from the 2000 AD strip Judge Dredd. He was a robo-car owned by Dave and Davina Paton on Luna-1, the city on the moon. During a check-up one day in 2100 AD, Dave accidentally dropped his spanner into Elvis's circuits, causing him to blow a fuse and go haywire. The newly rebellious car forced his 'father' into the driver's seat as he began tearing up the highways, killing as many people as he could. After tiring of hearing his 'father' protesting, Elvis ejected him from the driver's seat and caught him with his bonnet, snapping his neck. He then continued his happy massacre until he noticed the approaching Judges. Thinking quickly he drove into a garage and began rewiring other cars so they would be like him.
Elvis made his escape as the Judges fought the other cars and made his way to a shopping mall, quickly heading over to the toy store and looted the place. After the other rogue cars were dealt with, Elvis became a fugitive and decided to hide up in a couple's apartment. He stayed there for several days until he saw a news report of Judge Dredd calling Elvis a coward, which spurred the killer car into action.
A chase began for Elvis, but he managed to sneakily get the upper hand on Dredd and captured him in his apartment. Holding Dredd ransom in his cockpit, Elvis went to the Hall of Justice and demanded that his requests be met, this included songs about him, a parade and a marching band. Begrudgingly the Judges complied and an hour later the celebrations got underway. Dredd stirred awake and quickly lit a fire, causing Elvis to eject Dredd accidentally. As soon as Dredd was clear, a nearby Riot Squad doused Elvis in a powerful solvent, melting the killer car into nothing more than sludge.
