Dr. Mysterioso was a criminal genius who repeatedly challenged the Spider and considered himself his arch enemy. At one point, he was banished to a subatomic universe but returned with an army of barbarians, having become the ruler of the kingdom of Shazz! He was subsequently forced to flee back to his subatomic kingdom by an alien criminal he unwisely decided to challenge for the right to kill the Spider.
