Donald Southam Lawrence (17th November 1928 - 29th December 2003) was a London born comic artist best known for The Trigan Empire in Ranger and Look and Learn and for the European SF/fantasy series Storm, though in a long and varied career he worked on everything from the superhero Marvelman (for L.Miller and Son) to the erotic humour strip Carrie (for men's magazine Mayfair). He worked at various times for Odhams, Amalgamated Press and TV Century 21 (on Tarzan) and also created the fantasy series Karl the Viking. He is generally regarded as one of the best British comic artists of the 20th century.
