History[]
Joshua N'Dingi is a character from the Marvel UK strip Captain Britain. He was the son of Jonas N'Dingi, King of Mbangawi, a small country in Africa. Sent to England to be educated, he was recruited by the R.C.X. and put in charge of rounding up the mutated children known as the Warpies. However, one Warpie, a baby called Robert Arnold, objected to being forcibly removed from his mother and responded by literally exploding while N'Dingi was holding him. N'Dingi was critically injured, losing an arm and much of his face and sustaining third degree burns over much of his body.
The British government spent a small fortune saving his life by rebuilding him as a hideous cyborg monstrosity, a kindness the ungrateful N'Dingi repaid by going home to become King of Mbangawi. Deciding to protect his region from the corruption and exploitation of other nations, N'Dingi (now called Doctor Crocodile because he had a doctorate and his burns made his skin resemble that of a crocodile) captured slave trader Jamie Braddock, an act which brought him into conflict with Jamie's brother, Captain Britain. When Brian discovered what his brother had become, however, he left him to face whatever punishment Doc Croc had in mind.
Later, Jamie Braddock was freed by the alien Technet and used the mutant reality warping powers he had unexpectedly developed to turn N'Dingi into a real crocodile, but he eventually got better. He has since clashed with the X-Men.
