History[]
Some years after Dan Dare's departure from active service, much of the world was in ruins and Spacefleet had been disbanded after a nuclear war between China and the USA. Britain had survived the war unscathed thanks to defensive shields created by Professor Jocelyn Peabody. Dare was called out of retirement to deal with the Mekon's return, and was horrified to discover that the Prime Minister had effectively sold out to the Treens' despotic ruler. Dare and the Royal Navy (which had taken over Spacefleet's former role) fought back against the Mekon's invasion attempt, which led to the destruction of Pluto. Tragically, Dare's old friend Digby was killed in action.
