History[]

Crom-Cruach is a major antagonist in the 2000 AD strip Sláine despite having rarely been seen in person and not having even a single line of dialogue. He is worshipped by the Drune Lords.

Sláine first learnt of the dark god when he rescued the priestess Medb from the top of a wicker man. Medb did her best to try and escape, hoping to die and become Crom's bride (Medb was a weird girl), but ultimately she was forced to remain mortal and was saved. Later Sláine witnessed Crom in action, taking control of hundreds of common earth worms to devour the Drune Lord Slough Throt and his master's manuscript.

Sláine finally saw Crom in action during the Cyth-led attack on the Home of the Ever-Living Ones. Being ridden by General Myraakothka, Crom used his time rays to rapidly age the citizens and soldiers of the city. Amongst his victims was Tlachtga who had half of her face horrifically disfigured. Shortly thereafter, some of Crom-Cruach's spawn would make their way inside and cause more problems for Slaine.

During the climax of the "Horned King" saga, the defeat of Lord Weird Slough Feg caused him to be eaten (albeit voluntarily) by Crom-Cruach, much to the horror of those watching.

In a timeline altered by the Guledig, Crom instead bestowed his powers on Feg, turning him into a skeletal centaur-like creature. Crom-Cruach has made several other small appearances but nothing major since.

Powers and abilities[]

Powers

Time Rays, control over worms, big teeth, burrowing, teleportation, super strength, probably a whole lot more as well.

Strength level

As much as any Dark Worm God.

Weaknesses

Extremely low intelligence. He's more of a force of nature than a sentient being. This is probably why he can't talk.
