Carl Critchlow (born 1963) is a British fantasy and science fiction comics illustrator. His career in comics began in 1983 when he created Thrud the Barbarian for White Dwarf, the long running fantasy gaming magazine (he has continued to work in the gaming world ever since). In 1984 he broke into mainstream comics with The Black Currant in Warrior #26, and in the 1990s he began a long association with 2000 AD which has included working on Nemesis & Deadlock, Tharg's Future Shocks, Judge Dredd, Mean Machine: Son of Mean Machine, Tales of Telguuth, Flesh and the 1995 Batman/Judge Dredd crossover Judge Dredd/Batman: the Ultimate Riddle. He moved away from mainstream comics in 2000, resurrecting Thrud as a small press title, but returned to 2000 AD in 2002 to work on Judge Dredd again, and to create Lobster Random. He continues to draw both strips occasionally, and drew the bumper-sized culminating episode of the Judge Dredd/Low Life/The Simping Detective crossover story Trifecta.
