Synopsis for "An Odyssey Of The Mind!"[]
At S.T.R.I.K.E. headquarters, Lance Hunter and his team continue to be baffled by Captain Britain's strange medical condition. Betsy Braddock awakes from a nightmare about Brian in her brother Jamie's flat. Jamie tries to convince her that Brian is okay. In another dimension, Captain Britain's astral form survives the torment of a monster breathing flames all over him. He is rewarded by being granted an audience with Merlyn and Roma, who arranged for him to be tortured in order to demonstrate his worthiness to be Britain's champion. (NB: This story is partially reprinted, with alterations, in Hulk Comic #34.)
Notes[]
- Published by Marvel UK in the week ending June 1st 1977.
- The letters page includes a letter from reader Shane Oakley, who would years later become a comics artist.
Trivia[]
Perhaps Merlyn chose this moment to test Brian Braddock's worthiness because the destruction recently wrought by the mechanical hawk he made caused Merlyn to doubt his judgement. Or perhaps Merlyn is a sadist acting on a whim.
