History[]
Lieutenant, later Captain, Gerald Cadman was regarded as a model officer in the British army during the first World War, a sefless, heroic figure dedicated to his country and his duty. Only his batman, Tom Smith, seemed to realise that Cadman was in fact a ruthless, moneygrubbing coward who would do anything to avoid risk to himself; frequently, this would involve blaming his own mistakes on Smith, which he inevitably got away with because, well, he was an officer and Smith a mere private (later, Corporal); who were they more likely to believe?
Lady luck unaccountably smiled on Cadman for the duration of the war, and rather bafflingly, he and the long suffering Smith were later recruited to work for the British Secret service in Germany prior to World War II, suggesting that someone in the Service really hadn't done their homework.
Powers and abilities[]
Abilities
Talking his way out of trouble; talking Tom Smith into trouble.
Weaknesses
Greed and cowardice.
Notes[]
Cadman, a long running star of Victor, was pretty clearly modelled on the 'hero' of the Flashman novels.
