History[]
At first glance, Boot appears to be an old English sheepdog, and this is because he is, in fact, an old English sheepdog. Boot himself, however, believes that he is actually an eighteenth century English nobleman named Lord Boot, a veteran of an army regiment called O'Bunion's Intruders, who was cursed by a gypsy wench to spend the rest of his life on all fours, wrapped in a hairy skin, for refusing to buy her clothes pegs. Aside from this mild and largely harmless delusion and an irrational fear of water, Boot is remarkably well-adjusted for a dog who lives in a disused railway station with only Wellington for company most of the time. He is highly intelligent and has a generally laid-back outlook on life.
Except when he hears the bath running.

Notes[]
In early Perishers strips, Boot was depicted with a straggly tail, until the artist realised that old English sheepdogs usually have their tails docked. It then got progressively shorter until it vanished altogether.
Trivia[]
